ENGL0101 とは、UoPeople 入学時に英語の能力を示すことができなかった人が最初に履修する授業です。
IELTS とか TOEFL でスコアを持っていればパスできます。
気づけばあと 3 回で ENGL0101 が終わります。やった

topic sentences/evidence にはいくつかの書き方がある。 #
(topic sentece は 5 paragraph essay の 2~4 つ目のパラグラフ)
- Chronological
- 出来事の順で書く。
- 例）WWI の次に WWII について書く
- Order of Importance
- 重要なもの順に書く
- Reverse Order of Importance
- 一番重要じゃないものから書く
- Spatial
- 近さで順番を決める
- 例）犯罪について書くなら、車への犯罪方法を書く？？
- Sandwich
- 最初に最重要なものを書き、次に 3 番目、最後に 2 番目に重要なものを書く
- 読者に興味をもたせ続けるために行う
SPRINKLES #
unit6 で SPRINKLES についての資料が見つからなかったけど、今回の unit7 で書いてあった。
Finally, we have the paragraphs done, but we need supporting evidence (the Sprinkles!)
つまり、paragraph に書いたことの証拠になるようなことを書く。
例）The man is in a job that he hates, but he keeps it because he needs money. In face, Gibson(2013) suggested that the middle class in Dublin, dressed like royalty off the wages of poor paying jobs in order to make believe they had it better than they did.
あと、授業の資料に写真があってようやくわかったけど、sprinkles はアイスクリームにつけるチョコチップ的なトッピングのことっぽい。
アイスクリームが paragraph のメインの部分で、sprinkles はトッピング、つまり論の補足的な役割をしてるだけという意味のよう。
さらに Learning Journal Unit 7 に以下のように書いてあった。
Remember, most of the paper needs to be your own original work (the ice-cream) and the citations should be sparse (the sprinkles). You have worked almost all semester on this paper, so it should be the best copy you can make.

you can’t say that a literate society has no criminality. But there are very real correlations.
Literate people read fiction. Fiction has two uses. Firstly, it’s a gateway drug to reading. the second thing fiction does is to build empathy Empathy is a tool for building people into groups, for allowing us to function as more than self-obsessed individuals.
